Closing Comments on This Blog

At this point, this blog is only a place for sharing links, and the only comments I've been getting are comments like the following from porn bots.

I want you, all of you. I want to feel you inside me, deep inside me. I want you to tell me when you’re going to cum, hear you moan my name and fuck me harder. Click here and Check me out i am getting naked here ;)

Since I don't have a hoo-hoo dilly to put in your cha-cha, Porn Bot, this ain't gonna happen.

For the actual people who may still read this blog, just follow the links in the posts to get to the real material.

I would never in a million years make a pitch for my writing on Twitter! If I'm to be honest, my Twitter is something of a dumpster fire. I mostly use it to rant about the foolish things said by the Orange Overlord.

Overall, I think the changes in the publishing industry are great for independent authors. I was never good at the whole papering my wall with rejection slips thing.

 http://www.naughtynetherworldpress.com/2020/03/weekend-writing-warriors-22-march-2020.html

“’Ang on a tick, Johnny!” the small ghoul advised in a nasally alto voice somewhat reminiscent of a creaking hinge as he lifted his finger to his sharp-toothed mouth. “Is that him?”

“Him whom?” the first ghoul inquired as his companion pulled him towards a clump of spiky bushes.

“Ketil Nagel, that’s whom! Where have you been?”

“Undead since 1918, like you! Why should we give a toss if that’s Ketil Nagel? I’ve no strife and snarl with him.”

Ornery Notes
I was intending to publish The Ballad of Gerry Clifford today but instead decided to spend the month going over it one chapter at a time to make sure it is really up to snuff. I read each chapter aloud after doing my two initial editing passes.

I am working on the first draft of Toys in the Attic for Camp NaNoWriMo. I like Camp NaNoWriMo because you set your own goals rather than having to write 50,000 words in a month on one project like the regular NaNoWriMo. I probably do write 50,000 words a month, but it is spread out over multiple projects.

Whenever I have done NaNoWriMo in the past, I have ended up with a steaming pile of rubbish that I can't bear to look at again. The only thing that has even a vague chance of passing muster with this process is smut. I don't enjoy it, so I don't do it anymore. It only took me about thirteen years to figure out that I really cannot write anything worth reading using the NaNoWriMo process. I'm kind of slow on the uptake sometimes.

I broke up with Publish0x and am now re-opening the Horror Harridans Writing Sisterhood as a catch-all blog, for whatever that's worth.

Happy Independence Day to whoever celebrates such. I will probably have the recipes for the Divine Dijon Drumsticks and Dijon Garden Potato Salad up on the Good Stuff From Grover Blog tomorrow if anyone is interested in those.

Keep on keeping on, and if you have a project you'd like to shamelessly self-promote, feel free to leave a link in the comments.

Insecure Writers' Support Group + WTF Wednesday 1 July 2020: A Sincere Apology

I'm sorry. Here's a Chihuahua

The Insecure Writers' Support Group question for July is:

There have been many industry changes in the last decade, so what are some changes you would like to see happen in the next decade?

What a fantastic segue! Fair warning, I cuss a lot. If you are bothered by profanity, you will want to give me a miss.

Self-publishing has started to be taken seriously during the past decade. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately for the quality of the material being presented) most self-published authors are not independently wealthy, so we need to engage in self-promotion as well.

I would like to see myself become independently wealthy in the next decade.

That being said...

My longtime followers have probably not failed to notice my promotion of a platform called Publish0x over the past several months. I was a big fan of Publish0x. The platform allows readers to tip authors using cryptocurrency from the Publish0x pool at no cost to themselves. That sounds pretty damn great, and it probably would be if the people who run the platform weren't prats.

Obviously, the bloom is off the rose.

"So, Ornery, what happened? Why did you give Publish0x' ring back?"

I logged into Publish0x to do my thing. Lo and behold, the write a post function is gone. A glitch? Nay. It turns out that my Naughty Netherworld Press blog was removed without warning because Publish0x claims that I seriously violated one of their terms.

I don't know which one, because they sent me a crappy form letter, which said:

Hello,

We're sorry to inform you that your authorship privileges have been removed. This is due to a serious breach of our rules when posting content on the site.

If you wish to dispute this decision then please respond to this email, stating clearly why you believe your authorship should be reinstated.

Thanks,
Publish0x

Well, exactly what do you want me to do with that overwhelming lack of information, Publish0x? I don't know which post violated your rules. Other than embedded Twitter videos featuring cute animals that lead back to the source, the only content I publish is MY OWN. I cite my sources and use free pictures from places like Pixabay.

The last post I published on Publish0x was this one:

The content of that post was original. I cite where I cross-posted it. The material being sourced was written by me. That post is me all over.

Initially, this is what I wrote to Publish0x support.

I am not sure why this has happened. I only publish material that I have written and correctly source any material such as videos and images. I only use free-use images from Pixabay and such. I have posted some embedded videos from Twitter, but these clearly link back to the source. I have always been very careful not to break the rules and would like to know which post you are referring to.

Eleven minutes later, this is the tune I was singing:

Never mind, just delete my account. If you can't even be bothered to tell me which post was the problem or what I supposedly did that was a breach of conduct, that is pretty unprofessional. I have always been very careful to follow your rules. Other than the occasional embedded twitter post with a cute animal video, which links directly back to its source, all the material I post is my own work. I correctly identify my sources, and I only use images from free-use sites such as Pixabay.

This form letter is the height of impersonal. I liked your platform and thought it was an excellent alternative to WordPress and Blogger. I promoted the platform every time I shared a post. Unfortunately, I will be rescinding my support of your platform and I would like you to delete my account immediately. In fact, I will be suggesting that people not use Publish0x.

So, there you have it, Folks. I am going back to the tried and true. Publish0x was a pain in the ass anyway, but I thought it had potential.

#ShamelessSelfPromosSaturday: 2020-06-13

#ShamelessSelfPromosSaturday: 2020-06-13:

This week, I have to ask myself if I can call them “works in progress” if I'm not working on them or making progress. Between wrestling with depression and being sick of dealing with online trolls, I focused primarily on cryptocurrency.

The following is my response to the author of the above post. He has some thoughts that those of you who are writers or artists (particularly writers or artists who suffer from depression) might appreciate. If you like what he says, please consider signing up for a Publish0x account so you can give him a cryptocurrency tip at no cost to yourself.
Sometimes the progress is wretchedly slow, but any progress is progress. I live with both mental and physical disabilities, and lately, it seems to be not so much living as floundering. I have ADD, type 2 bipolar disorder, and OCD that manifests as hoarding disorder (objects, not animals.) I forced myself to work full-time at physically demanding jobs (mostly in health care) until I could no longer do so. I now become fatigued very easily and can't lift anything very heavy. It is extremely discouraging to me.
I'm saying this because I know where you're coming from. While working all the time, I neglected the state of the mobile home I was living in because I just couldn't deal with it. I now live with my son, who also lives with psychological disabilities. Physically, he's reasonably strong.
He is helping me clear out that mobile home, and I was so disgusted with myself when I found out that we will get pretty well nothing for it because of the shape its in. The furnace and swamp cooler don't work. I froze every winter and roasted every summer for the past 5 years that I was in there because I couldn't afford to get them fixed. When I found out that I wouldn't be able to repay my son for his help, I quite literally wanted to kill myself. I still feel pretty damn shitty about it but from a purely pragmatic point of view, killing myself would leave my son in even worse straits than if I remain alive. He is high-functioning autistic and is not able to drive.
I appreciate your writing. When I'm on Publish0x and notice one of your posts, I check it out.
I know this will sound trite and dumb and I wish I could offer something better, but your work does make a difference. I thank you for it.
An addendum for the people I follow on other platforms.
I may not say it much, but there are some of you whose writing and art can make a huge difference in what kind of day I have. Thank you.

This is a beautiful and powerful Xena fan fiction. I really enjoyed reading it, and you may too.

Also, while I was reading, I had a realization that gives this blog a second life. While I am no longer intending to create posts specific to this blog, I am actually returning it to its original intent: to be a library for shared work. In an effort to utilize my time more efficiently and in fairness to my paying readers on BitPatron and Patreon, I have made the difficult decision to archive this blog. Good Stuff from Grover remains something of a catch-all blog, although I try to limit it to posts that directly relate to my son's and my life in the small town of Grover as we try to renovate the property we bought there.

Crazy Creatives Cheerleading Camp and One Love will remain active, but these are side blogs that don't really fit into the evolutionary equation.

On Publish0x
Publish0x is a relatively new blockchain-based blogging platform that allows readers to tip creators at no cost to themselves and to earn cryptocoin for engaging with creators. For instance, I have my meter set so that when I tip a creator on Publish0x, they will earn 80 percent of the tip and I will earn 20 percent.

Tipping my posts on Publish0x is your most cost-effective way of supporting my efforts, hands down.

Please don't ask me about the specifics of how cryptocoin and blockchain work, as I am a stone-cold noob. If you want to learn more, I suggest reading this post by Scott Cunningham, who knows much more about these topics than I do.

The BitPatron subscription offers similar benefits to the Cultist tier on Patreon with money-saving subscription options that I can't provide on Patreon. Even investing in a dollar a month subscription on Patreon helps me a lot, plus I provide each and every subscriber a chance to promote their own work via a shout-out on the official Naughty Netherworld Press blog at the end of each month and in the Aunt Cie's Attic newsletter, if I ever figure out how to do that effectively.

I have felt for years that certain jobs could be done remotely. This would both reduce the amount of traffic on the road, resulting in reduced pollution and reduced stress levels, and would allow more disabled people the opportunity to work. I would like to think that maybe some companies will see the proverbial light and continue to have certain jobs be done remotely. I won't hold my breath, because experience says that people are stupid, apathetic, lazy, and generally evil, and I don't trust them to do the right thing.

The text follows in case you're on mobile

 Dear fucking moron,
Instead of worrying so much
about what people who don't matter think of you

Instead of always having to buy
The latest and greatest whatever
and spending money like it's going out of style

Instead of worrying about finding
a man to complete you
and hopefully not beat you

Try getting your shit together a little bit
so I don't have to end up broke and broken
cleaning up the remnants of what your out-of-control self
left behind for me to deal with

Your future self

NaPoWriMo: Make a walking archive
I didn't exactly do that. I found an image with a bunch of stuff in it that worked.

April PAD Challenge: Write a message poem.

Saturdays of youth
a precarious respite
a week of struggle
hearing messages of hate
that stuck forever with me

It's time to stop behaving as if the scars on the inside are trivial.

NaPoWriMo 2020 Day 16 + April PAD Challenge Day 16: The Last Best Chosen One

Image by David Bruyland from Pixabay

the last bigly best forever president
is a very stable genius, just ask him
"I am the chosen one," he says, looking up
he makes the best jokes, right?

"Trump is doing a very good job," he says
giving himself a gold star and Nobel prize
he is the best at complimenting himself
often in the third person

the last bigly best forever president
thinks he deserves a military parade
Kim Jong-un gets one, so when will Trump get his?
don't care how, he wants it now

the last bigly best forever president
knows everything that is going to happen
he was chosen by God to be the messiah
at least if you ask him

the last bigly best forever president
would not still be in office fucking things up
if Congress had the guts to remove his ass
impeachment means shit

NaPoWriMo 2020 Day 15 + April PAD Challenge 2020 Day 15 + Words for Wednesday: Blue Dream

Image by Sandra Myles from Pixabay

I am your blue dream nightmare sunless sky
drawn from the depths of forgotten traumas
a thousand brisk switches leaving bloody trails
the gold within my heart not worth the trouble
aggressive word witch with a way to walk that says
stop where you are, stay the fuck away
I am not your delightful, delicate princess
not your pretty pop tart teen queen dream
hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, and I
am scorn personified
I'll tear out your throat with pointed teeth
I'll rip out your heart with my bare hands
I am ground glass in your hipster latte
I am claws scraping over metal in a dark alley
I am a decaying, dirty city, ugly and gritty
I spit your name black from my mouth
I despise and disdain everything you stand for
and contrary to what you have told yourself
I wouldn't want to be like you
shallow and flighty, fading to nothing when exposed to light
blowing on the whims of any breeze that happens by
you are nothing and nobody, a Barbie doll princess
but looks fade and boys cheat and if your worth is tied up
in whether or not some creep thinks your tits are fine
and your ass is hot
then you will live your life chasing impossible perfection
botox and liposuction and spending each waking hour
obsessing on whether your ass is too fat
I am the nightmare you so fear becoming
old and fat and unwanted and pissed off as hell
I'm waiting for you around the next corner
so if you don't want to waste your life fearing becoming
what we all one way or another eventually do
concentrate on what's inside, on your soul, not your looks
on your skills and your truth and the strength of your self
youth is here today, gone tomorrow like a popular song
but the blues lives forever
real, gritty, unpretty
tarnished, unvarnished
sometimes mean as hell
taking shit from nobody
surviving with the middle finger flying high
to stupid conventions
and soulless fucks
who want to steal your thunder
'cause they've got none of their own
the blues can be your best friend
but the blues can fuck you up
the blues don't bow down to nobody
the blues don't get played for a fool
so be your own dream
not what someone else tells you
don't be a bubblegum pop tart illusion
be true to yourself
be the blues

Sincerely,
The Ornery Fucking Old Lady
Not apologizing to anybody

NaPoWriMo: Write a poem about your favorite kind of music.
Blues is the backbone of rock of any genre. The blues is real, bare-bones, angry, no-bullshit music with a story. The blues doesn't ask you to be pretty or happy. The blues is real.

April PAD Challenge: Write a dream poem. I'm pretty much everyone's worst nightmare.
